Carmen Ritchie.

Tap Dancer • Choreographer • Educator

Hi, I'm Carmen.

Thanks for being here! I’m an artist dedicated to exploring how rhythm can connect us, both personally and globally. Whether you’re here to see my latest projects, hire me for a project, or join one of my classes, I’m glad you stopped by. If you want to know more about me, you can visit my About Me page.

My Values:

  • Connection Through Rhythm: I believe rhythm is a universal language that bridges cultures and communities. Whether on stage or in the studio, my goal is to create a sense of belonging that words cannot always capture.
  • Integrity of Craft: My work is rooted in a deep respect for the history and technique of percussive dance. I value the methodical “step-by-step” mastery that allows anyone to move from foundation to true creative freedom.
  • Empowerment: As an educator, I am committed to building spaces where individuals feel seen and accepted. I believe that when we find our own rhythm, we find the confidence to express our truest selves.

Artistry & Work

My work explores how rhythm can connect us to ourselves and to one another. Drawing on international training and performance experience with groups like Tri-Tone Rhythm Ensemble and Barcelona Rhythm Tap, I strive to create musical expression and communication through movement.

Teaching & Mentorship

My teaching blends international professional standards with a commitment to rhythmic discovery and inclusive growth. Grounded in my past experiences, I provide a structured, methodical environment that prioritizes technical precision and musicality. By bridging the gap between movement and music, I strive to create a space where dancers feel empowered to find their unique voice and connect with one another through the joy of percussive expression.

The Movement Studio

A dance studio in Bern, Switzerland.

My journey led me to Bern, Switzerland, where I co-founded The Movement Studio alongside Fabian Schneider. Together, we have built a community space dedicated to the art of tap dance and movement. As co-owner and manager, I am proud to offer a home for dancers and movement enthusiasts to explore everything from the rhythmic intricacies of tap to the technical strength of jazz. Our studio is more than just a training ground, it is a place where discipline meets creativity, and where every student is a connected part of the community.
